Default Scammers

In the past couple days have the powertraders out there noticed an increased number of scammers. I have been trying to sell (2) armbraces a Mallyx and a Djinn. People have attempted scamming me 25 times in 3 hours.....I have never remembered this many scammers.

They seem to come out of the wood work when a truly high end item(s) is involved.
Just follow your instincts..

People think they can get away with it. Especially now that the game is getting cheaper and they can just launder items easily.

People that are too lazy to play and not smart enough to make anything but farm usually get frustrated and lose patience, and resort to this kind of silly behaviors.

I think that this kind of behavior should be punished in some way, like having a report option or enter in one of the current report categories, and be punished if it is repeated too much frequently.

I think he was trying to say, "not smart enough to make anything farming" or atleast I hope he was trying to say.

I really feel that laziness is the correct answer.

Anyone else noticed that the number of attempted scams go up on the weekends? I refuse to run CoF on the weekend due to the number of scammers on runs.

I've reported several people for scamming and everytime they dissappear for 2-3 weeks a couple of hours after I sent in a report. Just add them to friends list on storage account and watch them dissappear. One time it was even an attempted scam over 999 gold. I've also told people who have complained about being scammed how to report the person, and watch the person dissappear a little after the person says they're reporting the player. Its hardly a fast way to make money when most people that fall for it dont have very expensive items. The 2-3 weeks you're banned you miss out on making a lot of gold. Plus a possible permanent ban if you're caught enough.

i doubt its the fastest way to make money . ..
considering that most people with high end items will be paying attention and the people that fall for scams the most are new players who won't have that much.

powertrading still is the fastest way to make money.

Yes, lol. I'm the same way. I refuse to run it from Friday afternoon until Monday. Its AMAZING how the IQ of the customers drops so drastically. The number of scammers, leavers, compass-doodlers, and clueless people just skyrockets.

But yeah. That's the GW community for you.

Anyway, regarding the scammers in general...not much you can do...besides report them. Or make them look very stupid by outwitting them.

They do it because they get away with it. It's like RA sync, nobody at the ANet team cares enough to deal with the issue.

I agree with that, I mean those scammers , I guess they scam a lot, so I can also imagine that they get reported a lot.
But they are still in-game scamming people after many reports ?

I'd say 'welcome to guild wars', but that would be kinda harsh.

the problem is as soon as they realise I cought them on scamming, they rezone pretty fast so /report option won't work. I still got a few screenshots of attempted scamms... should I just send them to anet or lay back and give it a break?

Fair comment if you ask me.

While it's only a small proportion that are like this, that proportion is growing by the day.
